Mix baking soda and vinegar in bag over a sink. Caution: Pour vinegar into bag slowly, there is an "explosive" foaming action that kicks in.

Place bag over shower head. Be sure it is submerged in the baking soda/vinegar solution.
Secure with twisty tie.
Let the shower head soak in the solution overnight or for at least 2-3 hours.
If you find that you need a little extra cleaning power,
Scrub with an old toothbrush.
Remove the shower head. Be sure to wrap a cloth around the head before removing so you don't accidentally scratch the surface of your fixture. After removing, submerge and soak the shower head in vinegar again. Using a toothpick, carefully poke the individual spray holes to remove the excess buildup, rinse and reattach.
