Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce

Ingredients
- 1/2 stick butter
- 6 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 TBSP vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 TBSP ground cinnamon
- 1 (1 lb) loaf bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1/2 cup raisins
- Optional: 1 small can crushed pineapple drained
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 ° F
- In a medium bowl, whip together eggs and sugar.
- Add milk, cream, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
- Mix until smooth.
- Melt butter in 13" x 9"baking dish.
- Place bread cubes on top of butter
- Sprinkle raisins over bread cubes.
- Pour egg/milk mixture over raisons.
- Place in refrigerator to allow the bread to become saturated with the egg/milk mixture.
- Bake 1 hour or until lightly browned.
Whiskey Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 3/4 cup butter
- 3/4 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup whiskey
Directions
- Mix sugar, butter and corn syrup in a medium saucepan over low heat.
- Remove from heat when thoroughly blended.
- Whisk in whiskey.
- Serve warm over bread pudding.
