Candy Bar Pie
Yield: 8-10 servings
Ingredients:
- Pretzel Crust
- 4 ounces pretzel sticks, ground finely in a food processor
- 1 stick (4 ounces) butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Caramel Sauce
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter, cubed
- Pie
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, melted
- 1/3 cup warm caramel sauce
- 1/4 cup coarsely chopped salted peanuts
- 1 (10 ounce) bag chocolate chips, melted
Directions:
- Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Stir together the pretzels,
butter, sugar, and salt.
- Press mixture firmly into the
bottom of a 9-inch pie pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven
and chill about 1 hour.
- Caramel sauce:
- Whisk the sugar, water, and corn syrup in a medium-size heavy saucepan
over medium-high heat.
- Bring to a boil and cook until it becomes a
caramel color (about 5-10 minutes).
- Remove from the heat and slowly whisk
in cream
- Whisk in the butter.
- Assemble Pie:
- Smooth the peanut butter over the pretzel crust and refrigerate
10 minutes.
- Pour the caramel sauce over the peanut butter layer.
- Sprinkle the
chopped peanuts over the caramel layer and refrigerate
10 minutes.
- Spread the melted chocolate over the peanuts and refrigerate
until the chocolate is firm (about 30 minutes).
