Molasses Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
- Melt butter over low heat.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Add sugar, molasses and egg. Beat well.
- Mix together flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, ginger and cinnamon.
- Add to first mixture. Mix well. Chill overnight.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Form dough into 1-inch balls and roll in white sugar.
- Place on lightly-greased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes.
- Cool on pan one minute before removing to wire rack.
Dough will stay refrigerated well for a few days. Makes 5-6 dozen cookies.
