Early a.m. French Toast

ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 & 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into thick slices

Directions:

  1. In medium saucepan, melt sugar, butter and corn syrup.
  2. Spray a baking dish with non-stick vegetable oil and fill with the butter mixture.
  3. Mix eggs, milk and vanilla.
  4. Arrange bread slices in baking dish and pour egg mixture over bread making sure to cover all areas of the bread. Use all the mixture as any extra will be soaked up by the bread.
  5. Cover dish and refrigerate overnight.
  6. The next morning, uncover and slip into a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Then serve with melted butter and warm syrup.
