Homemade French Onion Dip
Recipe from Elisa Barger
Ingredients:
- 1 very large - White Onion - pealed and sliced into thin rings
- 2 tablespoons of Butter (or Margarine)
- 1 tablespoon of Olive oil
- 1/4 cup of Brown Sugar
- Pepper and Salt to taste
- 1 large container (16 oz.) of Sour Cream
Directions:
- Heat butter and oil and stir in onions.
- Add pepper and a bit of salt.
- Add brown sugar and cook until caramelized and thick.
- Put mixture in small dish and let cool to room temperature.
- Pour sour cream into a large dish and add the above caramelized ingredients.
- Stir gently, mixing well and chill.
- Stir once before serving.
- Excellent served with chilled sliced vegetables and baked potato chips (from the grocery). Serves a large group.
