Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 6 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 TBSP vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 TBSP ground cinnamon
  • 1 (1 lb) loaf bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • Optional: 1 small can crushed pineapple drained

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 ° F
  2. In a medium bowl, whip together eggs and sugar.
  3. Add milk, cream, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
  4. Mix until smooth.
  5. Melt butter in 13" x 9"baking dish.
  6. Place bread cubes on top of butter
  7. Sprinkle raisins over bread cubes.
  8. Pour egg/milk mixture over raisons.
  9. Place in refrigerator to allow the bread to become saturated with the egg/milk mixture.
  10. Bake 1 hour or until lightly browned.

Whiskey Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup whiskey

Directions

  1. Mix sugar, butter and corn syrup in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  2. Remove from heat when thoroughly blended.
  3. Whisk in whiskey.
  4. Serve warm over bread pudding.
